Bluefield, WV- The Bluefield State Men's Golf Team met the Bluefield City Board to receive a proclamation regarding the USCAA National Championship the Golf Team won in early October.
Mayor Tom Cole recognized the golf team and congratulated them on such a wonderful achievement, highlighting that this was the College's first National Championship since the 1927-1928 National African American Football Championship. "The City of Bluefield Board of Directors congratulates them on their championship," Cole said.
Athletic Director John Lewis, Faculty Athletic Representative Roger Owensby and President Marsha Krotseng along with Coaches Cole Sulmonetti and Todd Fong and several of the team's players were all on hand to meet the Board. Coach Sulmonetti said, "It was an honor to be recognized by the Board. We all understand that they have very busy schedules and we really appreciate them taking the time out of their meeting to read the resolution. The Team, Coach Fong and myself all recognize how much this National Championship means to not only the College but the City of Bluefield."
