Bluefield, WV- The Big Blues finally do not have an Interim Coach/Administrator left on staff with the official hiring of Head Women's Volleyball and Softball Coach Megan Dillion. Coach Dillion has served as the Interim Head Coach for both sports this past academic year.
On being hired as the official Head Coach, Dillion said, "I am very thankful and excited to keep moving forward and building both teams into successful programs. I learned a lot this year and I am eager to develop the player's skills on both squads. I would like to thank my Hiring Committee, John Lewis and President Krotseng for giving me the opportunity to continue my coaching career here at Bluefield State College. Go Big Blues!"
Having been hired as the Interim Coach in August, Coach Dillion did not have a lot of time to bring in Volleyball players for the 2016 team. Having a limited roster, with no incoming freshmen, Coach Dillion was able to develop the team into her style and won 10 games in the season. In softball, things were even harder as she only had 2 returning players and no incoming freshmen on the team. Coach Dillion took 5 basketball players, a volleyball player and 3 walk-on's to complete the season. All of these athletes skill significantly improved and they were able be competitive and win a game down the stretch this season.
When asked about the hiring, Big Blue Athletic Director John Lewis said, "We are excited to have Megan Dillion as our new Head Volleyball and Softball Coach. Megan is a young and up and coming leader. She brings both Volleyball and Softball experience to Bluefield State. We are truly lucky to have Megan a part of our Department. Please welcome Megan Dillion to our Bluefield State College Family."
