Bluefield State College men's golf coach David Woodrum is pleased to announce the signing of two players for the fall of 2019. Joining the Big Blues roster will be Jack Clout and Tyler Higginbotham.
Jack Clout is a talented young player from Wellington, New Zealand. Jack earned Wellington Junior Golf captian in 2017 and 2018 along with St. Patricks Golf captian from 2013-2017, he was also awarded 2017 Sport Wellington Golfer of the Year. Jack won the 2016 New Zealand Eagles Champion, finished 5th in South Island under 19 in 2017, finished 4th in the New Zealand under 19 in 2017, and finished 7th in South Island under 19 in 2018. Jack volunteers at his home club during the week and helps teach junior golfers the basic fundamentals of golf as well.
Tyler Higginbotham is another young and talented player from Giles County, Virginia. Tyler has played golf and soccer for the majority of his life. He has been extremely successful in his soccer career and actively started focusing on golf his junior year and decided to continue to pursue golf at the next level. Tyler's high school golf team was District Champions in 2017. Tyler achieved the 2018 All-Star Team on his first year with the Blue Ridge Junior Golf Tour where he also won the tournament at the Glenrochie Country Club by way of a three person play-off for the 16-18 Age Group. Coach Woodrum believes Tyler has the drive and work ethic it takes to become a great golfer in the upcoming years. The Big Blues are looking forward to a outstanding year ahead as they prepare this off-season. Go Big Blues!
