  • Seniors Finish 2017 Season vs SIU
    April 26, 2017
    BSC’s season came to a close today with a double header against Salem International. Last time the Big Blues faced the Tigers, the Tigers pitching dominated, as they threw a perfect game in game one. This series, the Blues were able to put some balls in play but ultimately came up short, 14-4 & 18-3.
  • #1 Seeded Big Blues Host Atlantic Regional

    The Big Blues Men’s Program has done it again. For the 6th straight year they have made the Atlantic Regionals as the #1 seed. This year the Big Blues will play the winner of #4 Edinboro and #5 Mercyhurst out of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

    The Big Blues traveled to Carson-Newman for a mid week contest against the Screaming Eagles. A sluggish 1st inning absolutely killed any chance the Big Blues had in the game, falling 15-2.
  • BSC Takes Two Tough Losses to Apprentice

    The Big Blues traveled to the Virginia Coast this weekend for what was originally a 4 game set against The Apprentice School. Due to some inclement weather projected, the series was limited to 2 games, with the Builders taking both, 5-2 and 2-1.
  • Rams Spoil Senior Day

    The Big Blues finished up their up and down season with a loss against rival Bluefield College. Wendy Rudhu, LeAndrea Armbrister and Laura Hernandez played their final matches as a Big Blues. Unfortunately the Rams spoiled the party and beat the Blues 9-0.

    The Big Blues finished the season series against Kentucky State losing both on the road. Game 1 ended 17-0 and Game 2 was 22-1.
  • Seniors Finish Career at Cecil Spadafora Invitational

    The Big Blues end their 2016-2017 season at Indiana University of PA’s Cecil Spadafora Invitational coming in 10th place.
  • BSC Splits Season Series with SAU

    Games 1 & 2 were played in Mt. Airy, NC and ended 10-1 and 4-3; with Bluefield State winning game 2. Games 3 and 4, which were played in Princeton, WV ended 10-18 and 7-3 with Bluefield State taking the 4th game of the series.
  • Blues Bounce Back with Win Over NYIT

    The Big Blues bounced back from their 1st Regional loss in over 5 years with a win over NYIT in Washington, D.C. The Big Blues finally got 2 points from the doubles competition and then won 4 more singles matches to get a 6-3 overall victory.

    Bluefield State Women’s Tennis played their last Regional opponent of the season in northern Virginia in Chowan. The Blues were able to win 1 doubles match on the afternoon but ultimately fell 8-1.

  • Thomas Goes Deep in Loss to VA Union

    Bluefield State hosted the only team they beat this season in Virginia Union. Unfortunately the Panthers were able to take care of business in the games, winning 17-8 and 16-1.
  • Big Blues Finish 5th in Roanoke

    Round 1 had Bluefield State right in the mix of things fighting for the top spot, but Round 2 was a little different story. The team struggled from having 2 rounds in one day and ended in 5th place with a score of 634.

    The Big Blues are pleased to announce the permanent hiring of Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach Derrick Price. Coach Price has been the Head Coach for the Big Blues for one season after being at rival, Bluefield College for 5 seasons as an Assistant.

    Going on the road proved costly for BSC as they lost their 7th straight, this time by a score of 6-3 to West Virginia Tech.

    The Big Blues went on the road to start their 4 game series against the Winston-Salem State Rams. The Big Blues fell 4-2 and 15-1 in 7 inning double headers. The final 2 games of the 4 game series were held in Princeton, WV. But playing at home did not help Bluefield State as they fell 11-3 and 6-1.
  • Pioneers Roll Past Blues

    Bluefield State finished up their road trip with a trip to Tusculum College. The Pioneers outmatched BSC and ended up winning the match 7-2.
  • Big Blues Finish Trip to Tennessee with Win

    The Big Blues continued their road trip traveling to Greeneville, TN to take on the Pioneers of Tusculum College. BSC had a little easier time with them compared to King, handling the match and winning 6-3.

    The Big Blues went on the road to Tennessee to face off against King University this weekend. In one of the more highly contested matches in recent weeks, the Big Blues were able to squeak out a 5-4 victory over the Tornado.
  • Bluefield State Falls to King

    The Big Blues went and faced King University Friday. Bluefield State did not have to forfeit a match this time because King only had 5 girls in the contest. But the Big Blues were unable to secure more than 1 singles match and fell 5-2.

    The Big Blues got a rare series at Bowen Field against Mars Hills. Unfortunately the local field was not so friendly to the Big Blues as they fell 17-2 and 17-0 in the double headers.
  • Ladies Fall in Rain Delayed Contest

    The Ladies took on Regional opponent Shaw University. The contests ended up going 2 days as rain on the 4th suspend the match until the 5th. Due to forfeits, only 3 matches were actually played, but the Big Blues lost 5-0 to drop their record to 1-9 on the season.

    The Big Blues once again roll over Regional competition, beating Shaw University 5-0. This match lasted 2 days as the match was suspended on April 4th due to rain and finished the next day.
  • BSC Gets Blanked by BC

    Bluefield State faced off in another Battle of the Bluefield’s on the softball diamond. The offensive struggles continue for BSC as they were held scoreless in both games, losing 7-0 & 17-0.
  • BSC Hosts 2nd Annual Fincastle Collegiate Invitational

    The Big Blues were back at Fincastle Country Club, hosting their Second Annual Fincastle Collegiate Invitational. The conditions were very tough for the tournament and the Big Blues finished 2nd, 7 strokes behind the winners, WV Tech.
  • Pitching Shines in Sweep of Lincoln

    The Big Blues played Lincoln University from Pennsylvania in a doubleheader on Sunday. The Blues got 2 excellent pitching performances to sweep the Lions, winning 5-3 in game 1 and 2-1 in game 2.
  • BSC Downed by KSU

    The ladies were able to play at home for the 2nd time this season against fellow HBCU Kentucky State. After performing so well offensively in their road trip through Virginia earlier in the week, the team struggled mightily, only scoring 1 run in the 2 games.
  • Defensive Woes Hurt Blues

    The Big Blues finally had a home game this season and took on NCAA DIII Guilford College at Hunnicutt Field in Princeton, WV. The Big Blues have not fared so well against the Quakers and tonight was no different as BSC fell 15-3.
