    Golf Finishes 14th in First Tournament of Spring The Big Blues hit the golf course for the 1st time this spring at the Tusculum Invitational. The team was working on getting back into their groove after the winter break and finished 14th for the tournament with a 627 overall score.

    Big Blues Split with the Falcons The Big Blues had another 4 game series this weekend, this time against Saint Augustine’s. Just like the series against Virginia State, the Big Blues split with the Falcons, losing the two games Saturday (4-0, 2-1) and winning the games Sunday (10-4, 9-5).

    Big Blues Out Matched by #33 Wingate The Ladies went down to North Carolina to take on the Bulldogs of Wingate. Wingate is currently ranked 33rd in the country and showed their strength against a struggling Bluefield State squad, winning 9-0.

    Blues Pick Up 1st Win of Season The Big Blues took on Virginia Union this afternoon and picked up their 1st win of the season after splitting the series. BSC took game 1 6-4. In game 2 the tides turned and Bluefield State lost 10-2.

    Long Lay-Off Hurts Big Blues Coach Dillion and the Big Blues finally were back on the diamond after being off for 10 days due to cancellations and spring break. The lay-off did not do the team any favors as Coach Dillion’s Alma Mater won 20-0 & 16-0 in the double header.

    Offense Explodes in Weekend Series If you liked offense, this was your series. 75 runs were scored in these 4 games, as the teams split the weekend series, each winning two games. Each game was close throughout as three games were decided by 2 runs and 1 game was decided by 3 runs.

    Big Blues Close Out FIT in Two Day Contest The Big Blues finish off Florida Tech in a two day affair. After starting the tennis match on Monday the 13th, the Big Blues and the Panthers had to suspend competition for 24 hours due to rain. At the time of the suspension, the match was tied 4-4. The Big Blues played Rollins on the 14th then came back to Florida Tech and finished the match, winning 5-4.

    Ladies Swept by Florida Tech The Big Blues continued their Florida Spring Break Road Trip against a very tough Florida Tech team. The Panthers led from the opening match and swept the Big Blues 9-0.

    Big Blues Handed First Loss of Season The Big Blues are in the final stretch of their Spring Break Road Trip, playing the 32nd ranked team in the country in Rollins University. Rollins was able to get a 3-0 lead after the doubles contests and held on for the 7-2 overall victory, handing Bluefield State their 1st loss of the season.

    James Day Named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Semifinalist Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine has announced the Top 20 male and female finalists for the 2017 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. The winners will be profiled in its April 6, 2017 edition. The finalists were chosen from over 1,000 outstanding minority student-athletes nominated by their respective institutions.

    Big Blues Improve to 5-0 The #1 Team in the Atlantic Region was back at it again, this time taking on West Virginia Wesleyan. The Bobcats made the Atlantic Region Tournament last season but ultimately lost in the 1st round before facing Bluefield State. This season the Big Blues got the better of the Bobcats again, winning 7-2.

This week’s theme was centered on Dr. Suess and today the students got to wear hats to school for “Hats Off to Dr. Seuss Day.”

    BSC Loses on Last Second 3 The Big Blues hosted Warren Wilson for their 2nd to last home game of the season. In a special ceremony at half time, the Women’s Basketball Program honored all the Alumni for the 2nd Annual Alumni Day. Unfortunately the ceremony was spoiled by a 3 pointer made by the Owls with 1.1 seconds left to win the game, 81-80.

    BSC No Match For the Pioneers Bluefield State started their swing road trip with a trip to Malone University. The Big Blues could not muster any offense in this game, and were held to under 40 points for the 2nd time this season. Malone led from the tip and never looked back winning 86-39.
