Princeton, WV- The Big Blues pick up two huge wins against Salem International this weekend. The stars of the night were the Big Blues pitchers, both pitching fantastic games. Bluefield State won the games 10-3 and 1-0 picking up wins 11 & 12 on the season.
Jacob Muncy was given the nod for game 1 and pitched one of his best games of the season. Muncy was picking his spots with ease, going all 7 innings, giving up just 3 runs on 6 hits. But the most impressive number on the night was Muncy's 13 strikeouts, the final one coming as the last out in the top of the 7th inning, a perfect way to end the game.
On the offensive side, the night was led by Sam Harris who got 4 RBIs on 2 hits and scored 1 run himself. But the moment he will never forget is in the 3rd inning, when he launched a 2 run bomb over the left field fence, the first of his collegiate career. Harris wasn't done contributing for the game. 1 inning later he doubled scoring Chase Chambers and Justin Bowler giving him 4 RBIs for the game.
Game 2 was a classic pitchers duel. Ridge Sibold pitched the complete game for the Blues, only giving up 5 hits for the game. Salem International put out a submarine pitcher in Talon Kunkel who only gave up 2 hits but did give up the lone run for the game. Kunkel brought a no hitter through 4 innings. Kunkel also had 7 strike outs in the game 1 more than Sibold. But Sibold ended up with the win, as Kunkel gave up the lone run of the game in the 5th inning on a Sacrifice Fly by Cody Underwood, scoring Peyton Durham.
The Big Blues will be back in action tomorrow at 8:00 am against WV Tech. This is an early start so grab your coffee and get ready to cheer on the Big Blues bright and early on Sunday!
