Eat Bank, WV- The Big Blues played another 2 game series against West Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Big Blues offense struggled to keep up as the Golden Bears pulled away in both games, winning 14-3 & 10-0.
The Big Blues were not without hits in game 1 as they had 10 on the afternoon. Senior's Justin Bowler, Sam Harris and Chaz Rutherford were able to go 2-3 on the afternoon. Bubba Smith also had a solid game, reaching base twice but was stranded both times. Peyton Durham drove in 2 of the 3 runs and Junior Catcher Billy O'Hara went yard for the Big Blues 3rd run of the game. This was O'Hara's 3rd long ball of the season, putting him 2nd on the team this season. Addison Meeks took the mound in game 1 and fell to 4-2 on the season.
In game 2 BSC could not lay the bat on the ball, only getting 2 hits the entire game. WV Tech's pitching was stellar as 4 pitchers combine for 2 hits in 7 innings of work and 3 strikeouts and no walks. The Blues on the other had 3 pitchers give up 10 runs on 10 hits. Offensively, Sam Harris and Peyton Durham were the only 2 batters to record a hit. Justin Bowler and Bubba Smith were each able to reach base but did not advance due to the excellent pitching of the Golden Bears.
