Athens, WV- The Big Blues went on the road last night to face Mercer County Rival, Concord University. Unfortunately, the shots were just no falling for Bluefield State as they lost 90-53.
Offensively the Big Blues went 21 for 60 (35%) from the field and 7 for 19 (36%) from downtown. The Mountain Lions were much better shooting throughout the game going 47% from the field and 45% from 3. The Big Blues also could not find their rhythm from the charity stripe, only converting 4 of their 14 attempts for the game. Julian Hernandez led the way for Bluefield State scoring 17 points coming off the bench.
But the biggest difference and a major factor in the lopsided win by Concord was the rebounds. BSC had 28 total rebounds to CU's 61. Patrick Eugene could not be stopped on the boards, grabbing 15 total rebounds for the game.
Bluefield State plays again Friday at 3:00 pm against West Virginia Wesleyan in Ned's Den. This game will be before the Women's Herb Sims Classic which will take place at 5:00 & 7:00 pm.
