Big Blues Fall Short to USCAA Foe

Montgomery, WV- Bluefield State went on the road again to take on their first USCAA opponent of the season in West Virginia Tech. This time the Big Blues could not get to the foul like in the game against Salem International and fell 86-74 to the Golden Bears.

Offensively the Big Blues matched West Virginia Tech. BSC shot the ball 45% to WV Tech's 46%. The Big Blues also went 40% from downtown nearly matching WV Tech's 43%. However, the glaring difference came from the line as BSC only shot 12 free throws, converting eight. WV Tech was able to capitalize, converting 22 of their 27 attempts. This was the ultimate downfall of Bluefield State's 12-point loss to the Golden Bears.

Once again, Joshua Windham and Julian Hernandez showed off their skills with another double-digit performance. Windham went 10-20 with four threes to total 24 points on the night. Hernandez matched that with 21 points for the game, going 7-16 with three 3's. Jamal McCoy came off the bench and had an impressive performance scoring 7 points in 15 minutes of action.

The Big Blues will have a weekend road trip to another NCAA DII Independent in Oakland City on Saturday. They then turn around and play Simmons College of Kentucky on Monday before returning home. Check back on go-bstate.com for links to live stats and videos for the game.
