No Luck in Indiana for the Big Blues

Oakland City, IN- The Big Blues started a two game swing road trip first with a match up with Oakland City University. The Mighty Oaks are another NCAA Division II Independent like Bluefield State. This game was a back and forth affair that had seven ties and 5 lead changes. In the end being at home really helped the Mighty Oaks and the squeezed out a 77-76 victory over BSC.

Bluefield State's leading scorer Joshua Windham was at it once again running Bluefield State's offense scoring 23 points. His performance was also matched by Greg Prunell and Julian Hernandez. Prunell had 15 points with 9 of his coming from downtown. Hernandez outscored Prunell by 1, going 6-16 from the floor.

The game was ties 76-76 with 21 seconds left when BSC send Addison Wagler to the line. Wagler went 1 for 2 (capping off his 23 point night) giving the Mighty Oaks the 1 point lead. Bluefield State had 1 more opportunity to run down the court but Greg Prunell was unable to connect. Joseph Adeyemo was there for the tip in but missed it as time expired and Oakland City escaped with the 1 point victory. Oakland City had three players in double digits, including Wagler. Andrew Scott scored 27 for Oakland City and Logan Worthington notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Big Blues continue their road trip against Simmons College of Kentucky in Louisville, KY on Monday. Tip is at 4:00 pm.
