Canton, OH- The Big Blues went on the road after a two game home stand in a rematch from earlier this season against the Malone Pioneers. This rematch was not as close as the first time these two played in Bluefield as Malone snapped the Blues' three game win streak with an 85-66 victory.
Malone's offense was firing on all cylinders as 4 of the 5 starters were scored double digits. The Big Blues could not string together stops against the Pioneer's potent offense. Nate Sheppard who ended the day with 28 points and 10 rebounds led Malone.
BSC's offense faltered after performing well in this three game win streak. Josh Windham once again led the Big Blues with 24 points. Greg Purnell also contributed significantly, scoring 11, after suffering what seemed at the time a nasty injury in the game against Tusculum. Windham and Purnell were the only two starters to be in double figures for the game. Off the bench, Keenma Jones and Joseph Adeyemo were the bright spots for Bluefield State. Jones finished the night with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Adeyemo had 7 points and 11 boards.
Bluefield State has another road test in the middle of the week when they travel to Alderson-Broaddus to take on the Battlers. Live stats and video will be provided for the game. Go to b-state.com for access.
