Bluefield, WV- The Big Blues were back in action again tonight against WV Tech after playing on the road against Alderson-Broaddus on Tuesday. BSC came out firing in the first half and took an 8-point lead into the intermission. But, in the second half the Big Blues had some tired legs and the Golden Bears came from behind and ran away with the game, winning 82-61.
West Virginia Tech's second half resurgence was led by #5 Elisha Boone. Boone had 28 points and 13 rebounds for the game. Ra'Shaud Kincaid also helped the Golden Bears. Kincaid had 14 points, most of which came in the 2nd half. WV Tech also capitalized on the Big Blues turnovers, scoring 28 points off their 17 turnovers.
On offense, Julian Hernandez led the Big Blues. Hernandez had 23 for the game, 15 in the 1st half. The team was shooting the ball extremely well, especially from downtown, going 5-10 in the half. In the 2nd half everyone went cold and the turnovers from WV Tech's press started mounting up. As a team in the 2nd, the Big Blues shot 33% with only 2 three's.
The Big Blues unfortunately could not pull off a win to help their stock to receive a bid to the USCAA National Championship. But the team will now look ahead to a season sweep against Salem International. BSC played the Tigers earlier this season and picked up their 1st true road win of the season, winning 90-78. Tip is scheduled for an early 4:00 start so be sure and come out to Ned's Den early to watch your Big Blues.
