Round 1 had Bluefield State right in the mix of things fighting for the top spot, but Round 2 was a little different story. The team struggled from having 2 rounds in one day and ended in 5th place with a score of 634.
The Big Blues were back at Fincastle Country Club, hosting their Second Annual Fincastle Collegiate Invitational. The conditions were very tough for the tournament and the Big Blues finished 2nd, 7 strokes behind the winners, WV Tech.
The Big Blues hit the golf course for the 1st time this spring at the Tusculum Invitational. The team was working on getting back into their groove after the winter break and finished 14th for the tournament with a 627 overall score.
The Team, under the leadership of 6 seniors, was prepared for the challenge as they led from beginning to end and secured the College’s first National Championship since 1927-1928 when the Big Blues Football Team won the National African American Football Championship.
The Big Blues hosted the Tazewell Collegiate Invitational this week at the Tazewell Country Club in Virginia. The team was using this as a tune up for the USCAA National Championship which starts on Monday.
This looked like an old WIAC Conference tournament as most of the DII West Virginia Schools were in attendance (and 1 NAIA School). The conditions of the course really affected the Big Blues who shot a 944 (315, 312, 317) over the 3 rounds and finished 6th of 8 teams.
