Tazewell, VA- The Big Blues hosted the Tazewell Collegiate Invitational this week at the Tazewell Country Club in Virginia. The team was using this as a tune up for the USCAA National Championship which starts on Monday. Over all it was a good tournament for the team as they shot a 314 on Day 1 and a 309 Day 2 for a total score of 623 to end up in 2nd place.
On Day 1 the Big Blues were led by David Woodrum who shot a 74 (+3) which put him tied for 2nd. Woodrum converted multiple Birdie opportunities throughout the day and almost had an Eagle early in the round. On day 2 Woodrum finished with an 80 which put him Tied for 4th at the end of the Tournament.
Woodrum ended up tied with fellow Bluefield State teammate Karson Terry who really performed well in the 2nd day of the tournament. Terry shot a tournament best 71 (E) in the second day which helped see him jump 8 places to finish 4th. Terry and the rest of the Bluefield State Team look to carry this momentum into the USCAA National Tournament this weekend. The Tournament will be in State College, PA and be played at Penn State University's Blue Course. Updates will be provided daily after each round.
