Bluefield, WV- The Big Blues have now won 80 regional matches in a row with a 9-0 sweep of the West Liberty Hilltoppers. The #1 team in the Atlantic Region continues to roll today and now set their sights on tough competition in Florida.
Coach Belt stuck with the same line-up since week two of the season, putting Platon Gud and freshman Luka Ockernahl back at #1 doubles. Their match was extremely close today as they had to the tiebreaker 7-4 to take the overall match by a score of 9-8.
Ignacio Pulido's match ta the #4 singles was the toughest singles match of the afternoon. Pulido won the 1st set 6-4 and then won the 2nd set 7-5 to seal his match.
The Big Blues now begin their Florida Spring Break Road Trip this week, playing 4 nationally ranked opponents. Bluefield State is currently ranked #41 in the country and will play the 40th school in the country in Florida Southern Sunday. They then turn around and play #42 ranked Florida Tech Monday. On Tuesday they face another ranked opponent in Rollins University. To cap off the trip, they then travel back north to the University of North Georgia to take on the # 18 ranked Nighthawks. After this grueling road trip for BSC they can then come back and continue to set their sites on another Atlantic Regional Championship. That bid starts back up Sunday the 19th when the men travel to Davis & Elkins.
