Lakeland, FL- The Big Blues faced their 1st ranked opponent this week in #42 Florida Southern. This was the 2nd ranked opponent Bluefield State has played this season. The Mocs were up 2-1 after the doubles matches but the Big Blues finished strong winning 5 of the 6 singles competitions to win 6-3 overall.
The lone doubles win for BSC came in the #3 doubles competition as Ignacio Pulido and Giorgi Datashvili won 8-5. Anthony Braem and Alexandr Rudenco's match could have gone in their favor but lost in a tiebreaker to lose the match 9-7.
When the singles bouts rolled around, the men really showed their skills, winning all but 1 of the matches. Giorgi Datashvili won his competition easy, 6-2, 6-2. Anthony Braem and Alexandr Rudenco also avenged their doubles loss with a win on the singles side. Braem went into three highly contested sets, losing the 1st 4-6 but winning the next two 7-6 (7-3), & 6-2. Rudenco completed his match swiftly, winning 6-2, 6-2.
The Big Blues turn right around and face Florida Tech today for their 2nd ranked team in as many days. Check back for the results of this match later this afternoon.
