Big Blues Handed First Loss of Season

Winter Park, FL- The Big Blues are in the final stretch of their Spring Break Road Trip, playing the 32nd ranked team in the country in Rollins University. Rollins was able to get a 3-0 lead after the doubles contests and held on for the 7-2 overall victory, handing Bluefield State their 1st loss of the season.

The doubles competitions were highly contested with the #2 & #3 doubles matches ending 8-6 in favor of the Tar's. Down 3-0, Bluefield State had a huge mountain to climb to get back in the match. Platon Gud started things off strong for Bluefield State with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the #1 doubles. Giorgi Datshvili also looked impressive, winning 6-0, 6-4. With these two wins, Bluefield State was looking good to really push for a comeback. 3 matches went to a decisive third set but Bluefield State was not able to overcome the #32 ranked Tars and fell 7-2.

Bluefield State will play their final ranked opponent of the weekend against the University of North Georgia. The Nighhawks are currently ranked 18th in the ITA Poll. Match is scheduled for 8:00 am and results will be posted once the match is complete.
