Braem Upsets #16 Ranked Individual

Orlando, FL- The Big Blues faced the number 18 team in the University of North Georgia to end their Spring Break Road Trip for the 2017 season. UNG flexed their muscles in the match winning 7-2.

Bluefield State faced 3 individual ranked players in the match at the #1 & 2 singles and the #1 doubles. Platon Gud went up against #7 Niklas Zielen. Gud put up a fantastic fight but fell 6-3, 7-5. Platon Gud, along with Luca Ockernahl faced off against the #18 doubles duo in Niklas Zielen and Alexander Reinauer. The Big Blues were real close in this one, losing a break and losing the match 8-6.

But the upset of the week goes to Anthony Braem at the #2 singles spot. Braem went up against Alexander Reinauer who was ranked 16th in the country and took it to him, winning in 2 sets in convincing fashion, 6-3, 6-3.

Luca Ockernahl also halted his slide, winning the match in 3 sets, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 & 11-9 in a tiebreaker.

The men return to regional competition on Sunday on the road against Davis & Elkins. The Big Blues will be traveling up to Elkins with the women for a 2:00 pm match start time.
