Men's Tennis Lands 5 Academic All-Americans

Norfolk, VA- The USCAA Headquarters announced today the Spring Academic All-Americans for the sports that the UCSAA does not sponsor a postseason tournament. The Big Blues Men's Tennis Team cleaned house, placing 5 players on the All-Academic Team, most by a single team at Bluefield State College.

Anthony Braem, Guillermo Cortes-Lopez, Ignacio Pulido, Giorgi Datashvili and Alexandr Rudenco all received the Academic All-American Honors for their impeccable performance in the classroom. All have above a 3.5 GPA. Braem and Cortes-Lopez both graduated this May with degrees in Management. Pulido and Rudenco are on track to graduate in the Spring of 2018 and Datashvili will be graduating in the Spring of 2019. This past year, Bluefield State has placed 12 Student-Athletes on the Academic All American Team for their respective sport. The requirements are that the student must at least be a sophomore and have a 3.5 Cumulative GPA. Below is the list of Big Blues who have made the Academic All-American Team for the 2016-2017 Academic Year.

-          Golf: Kirk Collins

-          Volleyball: Jelena Jevtic

-          Men's Cross Country: Jared Brown, Chris McBride

-          Women's Cross Country: Marta Briales

-          Men's Basketball: James Day

-          Softball: Emily Day
