  • Dillion Loses Interim Tag; Formally Introduced as Head Volleyball & Softball Coach

    The Big Blues finally do not have an Interim Coach left on staff with the official hiring of Head Women’s Volleyball and Softball Coach Megan Dillion. Coach Dillion has served as the Interim Head Coach for both sports this past academic year.
  • Seniors Finish 2017 Season vs SIU

    BSC’s season came to a close today with a double header against Salem International. Last time the Big Blues faced the Tigers, the Tigers pitching dominated, as they threw a perfect game in game one. This series, the Blues were able to put some balls in play but ultimately came up short, 14-4 & 18-3.

    The Big Blues finished the season series against Kentucky State losing both on the road. Game 1 ended 17-0 and Game 2 was 22-1.
  • Thomas Goes Deep in Loss to VA Union

    Bluefield State hosted the only team they beat this season in Virginia Union. Unfortunately the Panthers were able to take care of business in the games, winning 17-8 and 16-1.

    Bluefield State faced off in another Battle of the Bluefield’s on the softball diamond. The offensive struggles continue for BSC as they were held scoreless in both games, losing 7-0 & 17-0.

    The ladies were able to play at home for the 2nd time this season against fellow HBCU Kentucky State. After performing so well offensively in their road trip through Virginia earlier in the week, the team struggled mightily, only scoring 1 run in the 2 games.

    The Big Blues finished their road trip to the Richmond, VA area with a double header against Virginia State. BSC is starting to put the ball in play more but ultimately fell to the Trojans 7-2 and 18-6.
  • Blues Pick Up 1st Win of Season

    The Big Blues took on Virginia Union this afternoon and picked up their 1st win of the season after splitting the series. BSC took game 1 6-4. In game 2 the tides turned and Bluefield State lost 10-2.

    Coach Dillion and the Big Blues finally were back on the diamond after being off for 10 days due to cancellations and spring break. The lay-off did not do the team any favors as Coach Dillion’s Alma Mater won 20-0 & 16-0 in the double header.

    The Big Blues were back on the diamond again for a double header against Lincoln Memorial. The Railsplitters took advantage of critical defensive mistakes by the Big Blues and won both games by a combined score of 27-0.

    The Softball team reached out to the local community this week and participated in Read Across America Week at Dudley Primary School in Bluefield, VA. This week’s theme was centered on Dr. Suess and today the students got to wear hats to school for “Hats Off to Dr. Seuss Day.”

    Softball had their first installment of the Battle of Bluefield’s against Bluefield College. This was Coach Dillion’s 1st contest against Bluefield College since being the assistant coach last season at Bluefield College. Bluefield College really took it to the Big Blues, winning 23-0 and 18-2 both games in 5 innings.

    The Big Blues opened up their 2017 campaign at home against the Asbury University Eagles. The teams were scheduled to play 2 games and game 1 went the way of the Eagles, who won 9-1 in 5 innings.
