    The USCAA has announced their 2016-2017 All-American’s for Men’s and Women’s basketball and two of your Big Blues were selected as members of the team. Joshua Windham was named as a 2nd Team All-American this season and Tanasia Blake made the Honorable Mention List.

    The Big Blues hosted Warren Wilson for their 2nd to last home game of the season. In a special ceremony at half time, the Women’s Basketball Program honored all the Alumni for the 2nd Annual Alumni Day. Unfortunately the ceremony was spoiled by a 3 pointer made by the Owls with 1.1 seconds left to win the game, 81-80.

    The Women’s Basketball Program is pleased to announce their 2nd Annual Women’s Basketball Alumni Day. The Big Blues are hosting multiple events tomorrow February 25th with the highlight of the day being at 2:00 pm when the Big Blues take on Warren Wilson in the Ned Shott Gymnasium.

  • BSC No Match For the Pioneers

    Bluefield State started their swing road trip with a trip to Malone University. The Big Blues could not muster any offense in this game, and were held to under 40 points for the 2nd time this season. Malone led from the tip and never looked back winning 86-39.
  • WV Tech Edges BSC

    The ladies faced off against USCAA opponent West Virginia Tech. Bluefield State kept things tight until the end of the 1st half. The lead grew to 20 in the 3rd quarter but BSC battled back and at the end were only down 15, losing 65-50.

  • Ladies Come Up Short In Rematch with AB

    The Big Blues are in the final stretch of their season and took on Alderson-Broaddus in the Ned Shott Gymnasium. BSC was able to keep things close in the first half but ultimately lost 66-44 tonight.

    The Big Blues traveled up Interstate 77 for their second match-up of the season against Concord University. The ladies were unable to keep up and lost 81-60 to the Mountain Lions.

    The ladies had a chance tonight when they took on Ohio Valley in Ned’s Den for the 1st time this season. The Big Blues led at half time but could not fight off the comeback by the Fighting Scots who won, 68-56.
  • Big Blues Out-Matched Against D&E Shooters

    The women’s basketball team was back in action last night to take on Davis & Elkins in a rematch from earlier this season. This game was really the tail of two halves for the ladies as they came out really flat in the 1st half but turned it around in the second, having one of their best shooting performances of the season. Unfortunately, the first half deficit was just far too great and the Big Blues lost 104-64.

    The Ladies of Bluefield State returned to action Tuesday with a road trip against Alderson-Broaddus. The tough season for Bluefield State continued as they could not find their touch from downtown going 3 for 22 and fell 67-44.

    Women’s basketball signs two more during the early signing period in November. Lilliana Hopkins and Sydney Coleman join the 2017/2018 signing class of Isabella Limon and Tara Deel who also signed during this time.

    Bluefield State is pleased to announce their first two early signees for the Women’s Basketball Program for the 2017-2018 season. Isabella Limon and Tara Deel will be great additions to the 2017-18 team. They will provide some much needed depth to a very young team next season.

    Bluefield State hosted the Herb Sims Classic this weekend which pitted Glenville State and West Virginia State against your Big Blues Friday and Saturday. Offense was the name of the game in both of Bluefield State’s contests and the ladies could not keep up, falling to Glenville State 98-45 and West Virginia State 92-55.

    This weekend marks another addition of Bluefield State’s Herb Sims Classic at the Ned Shott Gymnasium. This year will see Glenville State and The Apprentice School return for their 2nd straight year to the Classic and the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State will be the 4th and final team in the tournament.

    The Big Blues played the host’s Salem International Friday and played Central State for the 2nd and final time this season on Saturday. The ladies just could not put together a complete game each time out on the court and lost 81-57 to Salem International and 72-49 to Central State.

    After a little over a week off, the Big Blues were back in action against Malone University. The ladies had a difficult shooting night, especially from behind the arch as they fell to the Pioneers, 83-46.

    The Bluefield State Women hit the road for a two game tournament hosted by Kentucky State University this weekend. Friday night the Big Blues played Central State and ended up falling 81-37. Day 2 was not much better for the ladies as they played the hosts and ended up losing 108-44.

    The Ladies played their second rivalry game in as many days as they took the 2.5 mile drive to The Dome on Bluefield College’s campus. The Ladies came up short this time around, losing the Battle of the Bluefields by a score of 65-45.
  • Ladies Lose Both Games in Pikeville Tournament

    The Big Blues Women’s Basketball team official opened up their season this weekend by playing in a tournament hosted by the University of Pikeville. BSC did not play UPike as these two teams clash later in the season but on Friday the ladies played Ohio Christian and Saturday played Campbellsville. Turnovers are the story of the weekend as Bluefield State lost 67-47 to Ohio Christian and 108-41 to Campbellsville.
  • Big Blues Win Final Exhibition Game

    The Big Blues Women’s basketball team played their 3rd and final exhibition game this season and their 1st one at home against NCAA DIII school, Hollins University. Everyone on the Big Blues saw some action tonight as the ladies ended up winning 62-48.
