Philippi, WV- The Ladies of Bluefield State returned to action Tuesday with a road trip against Alderson-Broaddus. The tough season for Bluefield State continued as they could not find their touch from downtown going 3 for 22 and fell 67-44.
The Big Blues are a little injury plagued right now and so Coach Fong was not able to go as deep on his bench as he typically does. This hindered him down the stretch, as the team was not able to close the gap in the 4th quarter. AB's Jordan Parker led all scorers with 27 total points. Parker went 9-15 with seven three's in the game.
For Bluefield State, Rosalie Pozo, Tanasia Blake and Lyndsay Hatfield led the offense; each scoring double digits. Pozo went 8-10 from the charity stripe and added 3 more buckets giving her a team high 15 points. Tanasia Blake was right behind her scoring 12. Blake went 4-11 and added 4 free throws for her total. She also was a force on the defensive side, getting eight rebounds and seven steals. Lyndsay Hatfield also had a strong performance, going 4-12 with a three to give her 10 on the day.
The Big Blues will get their first chance at a rematch this season when they travel to Elkins, WV next Tuesday the 17th. Last time these two teams played Sydney Turner broke the Davis & Elkins record for most three's in a game with 10. However, that was very early in the season for the Big Blues and the team as a whole have become better defensively. Forcing more turnovers and contested shots.
