Tacoma Park, MD- The ladies went on the road for a rematch against Washington Adventist who they beat just 7 days prior for their 1st win of the season. This time the Big Blues were not as fortunate falling to the Shock 68-46.
Bluefield State reverted to old habits, turning the ball over 35 times in 4 quarters of play. In recent weeks, the Big Blues were able to limit the amount of turnovers they had to under 20 but today, Washington Adventist's pressure got the better of the Blues and were able to force the ladies into some bad decisions. The Shock capitalized on these turnovers, scoring 32 points off them.
The Big Blues were once again able to out rebound the Shock, as they did in the 1st match up, this time grabbing 46 rebounds to WAU's 36. Tanasia Blake and Hannah O'Quinn were the main staples on the boards as they were the two leading rebounders for the game. O'Quinn notched 7 boards, 4 of them big time offensive rebounds. Blake once again had another monster of a game getting 17 rebounds. She was also the leading scorer for Bluefield State, going 5-17 from the floor and adding 3 free throws to give her 13 on the night.
The Big Blues now turn their attention to Alderson-Broaddus who they host at home on Tuesday February 7th. Tipoff is at 6:00 pm so be sure to come out and support your Blues!
