Blake Honored in Final Game

Bluefield, WV- Bluefield State Women's basketball played their final game of the 2016-2017 against Salem International. The team's lone Senior Tanasia Blake was honored in a pregame ceremony for her service to Bluefield State. Unfortunately Salem International spoiled the party winning 71-61 and the Big Blues end their season 1-25.

It was a tail of two halves for BSC as the team could not buy a shot in the 1st. BSC shot 20% from the floor and 15% from three for only 15 points through two quarters. Salem International took advantage and took a 18 point lead into half time. But Coach Fong rallied the troops at the half and they came out cutting into the lead little by little. The team scored 46 points in the half but the 18 point half time deficit was too much and the ladies fell by 10. Bluefield State had 3 players in double figures in Tanasia Blake, Lyndsay Hatfield and Maggie Tien. Hatfield had 14 points and 8 rebounds and Tien had 13 points, all coming in the 2nd half.

Tanasia Blake ends an excellent career here at Bluefield State. The senior was a member of the back-to-back ECAC Championship Teams in the 2013-2014 & 2014-2015 Season. She also walks away 2nd in most points scored at Bluefield State with 713. The "Walking Double-Double" ended her season averaging 14.6 points per game and 12 rebounds per game. The Athletic Department would like to extend a big thank you for Blake's wonder career her at BSC and wishes the best of luck in her future endeavors.
