Charleston, WV- The Big Blues Women's Tennis team stepped on to the court for the 1st time this season in a regional contest against the University of Charleston Golden Eagles. BSC had some early season jitters and fell to UC by a score of 9-0. Having only 5 players on the team, BSC was down 2-0 nothing before the competition got underway. BSC will forfeit the #3 doubles and #6 singles in each match only having 5 players this season.
Wendy Rudhu will be playing BSC's #1 singles and #1 doubles again this season. On the double's side, Rudhu will be partnered with returner, Laura Hernandez. Rudhu and Hernandez played hard at the #1 doubles but fell 8-1.
On the singles side, Bluefield State had some struggles and were only able to win in two sets between the 5 players. But things are looking up for the team as Savannah Farmer, Kelsi Browning and LeAndrea Armbrister all have gotten their 1st collegiate tennis matches under their belt after Friday.
The team turns around and plays Sheperd University on Sunday. While this is a home match for BSC, the match will be played in Blacksburg, VA on the campus of Virginia Tech.
