The Big Blues finished up their up and down season with a loss against rival Bluefield College. Wendy Rudhu, LeAndrea Armbrister and Laura Hernandez played their final matches as a Big Blues. Unfortunately the Rams spoiled the party and beat the Blues 9-0.
The Big Blues went and faced King University Friday. Bluefield State did not have to forfeit a match this time because King only had 5 girls in the contest. But the Big Blues were unable to secure more than 1 singles match and fell 5-2.
The Ladies took on Regional opponent Shaw University. The contests ended up going 2 days as rain on the 4th suspend the match until the 5th. Due to forfeits, only 3 matches were actually played, but the Big Blues lost 5-0 to drop their record to 1-9 on the season.
The Ladies went down to North Carolina to take on the Bulldogs of Wingate. Wingate is currently ranked 33rd in the country and showed their strength against a struggling Bluefield State squad, winning 9-0.
The Big Blues Women’s Tennis team stepped on to the court for the 1st time this season in a regional contest against the University of Charleston Golden Eagles. BSC had some early season jitters and fell to UC by a score of 9-0.
The ladies went “on the road” today against the cross town rival Bluefield College. When these two teams met in the fall the outcome was not a good but today the ladies have really showed their improvement over the course of this season beating the Rams 6-3.
The Big Blues had their first home competition today against Wingate University. The match started at 1:00 pm and was played at Bluefield College because the men were over on the City Courts. Wingate was some very tough competition for the ladies as they lost 9-0.
