  • Dillion Loses Interim Tag; Formally Introduced as Head Volleyball & Softball Coach

    The Big Blues finally do not have an Interim Coach left on staff with the official hiring of Head Women’s Volleyball and Softball Coach Megan Dillion. Coach Dillion has served as the Interim Head Coach for both sports this past academic year.
  • Four Big Blues Chosen as USCAA Academic All Americans

    The Big Blues land 4 players on the USCAA Academic All-American list during the 2016 Fall Championships. Jelena Jevtic, Marta Briales, Chris McBride and Jared Brown all were nominated and received All-Academic Honors at the USCAA Awards Banquet this week.
  • Big Blues Wrap Up Season with a Win

    The Big Blues finish out the season breaking out the brooms over Salem International winning 3-0 yesterday and completing a season sweep of the Tigers. Each game was close but Bluefield State held off runs by the Tigers in each set, winning 25-19, 25-19 & 25-20.
  • Ladies Fall Twice on the Road

    The volleyball team traveled to Athens, WV to take on Virignia State and Concord in a weekend tri-match. The trip was not all that successful for the Big Blues as they lost both matches this weekend.
  • Ladies Get Revenge From Early Season Loss

    The Big Blues Volleyball Team won in dramatic fashion today as they defeated crosstown rival Bluefield College 3-1. This was a rematch from earlier in the season in which the Rams swept the Big Blues out of their gym. But today had a different tune and the ladies came out and finished off the Rams in 4 sets.
  • Volleyball Comes Back From Behind to Beat Ohio Valley

    The Big Blues come back from behind in amazing fashion to beat the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley Saturday afternoon. After the slow start, the Big Blues won sets 3, 4 & 5 by scores of 25-21, 25-19 & 15-11.
  • VB Falls on the Road

    The Big Blues VB team went on the road for a midweek match against Winston Salem State on Tuesday. The ladies went down 2-0 early but were able to battle back in set 3 and win 25-23. But in the 4th set Winston Salem State secured the victory with a 25-17 set win, to win the match 3-1.
  • Big Blues Fall to Rival Bluefield College

    The Volleyball team went down the street to face Bluefield College for the first of two meetings this season. Unfortunately, the ladies did not have the same success as they had last year, losing in straight sets to the Rams.

  • VB Takes Care of Livingstone

    The Big Blues VB team was back in action on Monday for their first weekday competition of the season against Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. The ladies of Bluefield State were too much for the Blue Bears and won 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-13, 25-16).
  • Volleyball Gets Season Started with Tournament Hosted by East Stroudsburg

    The Big Blues opened up their season in a 4 game tournament hosted by East Stroudsburg University. The Ladies went 1-3 over the weekend picking up their lone win against Lincoln (PA). They came up short against Caldwell, East Stroudsburg and Pace.

    The Big Blues are pleased to announce the hiring of Megan Dillion as the department’s Interim Volleyball and Softball Coach for the 2016-2017 season. Coach Dillion comes to Bluefield State College after spending one year as the Assistant Softball Coach and Assistant Sports Information Director at Bluefield College in Bluefield, VA.
  • Coach Poitier Takes Division I Head Coaching Job

    The Big Blues Athletic Department has announced the departure of Edric Poitier. Coach Poitier has been with the Big Blues Athletic Program for 3 years being the Head Coach of both the Volleyball and Softball teams.
