Salisbury, NC- The Big Blues VB team was back in action on Monday for their first weekday competition of the season against Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. The ladies of Bluefield State were too much for the Blue Bears and won 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-13, 25-16).
Excluding the 2nd set, in which Bluefield State had the lowest Attack Percentage of the night, the Big Blues dominated. On the offensive side, BSC was led by Brittney Deveaux, Tanasia Blake and Jelena Jevtic who totaled 30 of the 47 kills the team had. Defensively, Jessie Rehwald and Brittany Bonamy were once again all over the court recording 24 digs (12 apiece) for the game.
The Big Blues came out to a blistering start winning the 1st set quite handily (25-13). But the 2nd set gave the team a lot of trouble as Livingstone College was able to gain a sizeable lead and hold on at the end (21-25). During the sloppy 2nd set BSC committed a majority of their 14 service errors for the match. But the team regained their composure and put Livingstone to bed in the 3rd and 4th sets by scores of 25-13 & 25-16.
