Volleyball Comes Back From Behind to Beat Ohio Valley

Bluefield, WV- The Big Blues come back from behind in amazing fashion to beat the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley Saturday afternoon. After the slow start, the Big Blues won sets 3, 4 & 5 by scores of 25-21, 25-19 & 15-11.

Senior Tanasia Blake was one of the few Blues who started the strong. Blake connect on a few kills early to help the Ladies keep in the first 2 sets. She ended the day with 13 kills second to Brittney Deveaux who had 16. Unfortunately, Bluefield State committed simple errors in the first 2 sets which helped give the Fighting Scots the wins in the first 2 sets.

But Bluefield State was not a team of quitters today as they came storming back aftering being down in the 3rd set to win and not let Ohio Valley sweep them off their home court. The 3rd set win was a momentum swing in favor of the Big Blues who finally started capitalizing on their chances. Again the Big Blues were strong defensively, tallying 78 total digs, 21 of those coming from the libero, Jessie Rehwald.

The Big Blues are now back to .500 at 8-8 and have a huge match up against Bluefield College at home on Thursday. This is going to be a revenge game of sorts as the Rams sent the Big Blues packing in 3 sets when the teams played earlier this season. Live video will be provided for the game so check back on our website for more details!
