The Big Blues are pleased to announce the hiring of Megan Dillion as the department’s Interim Volleyball and Softball Coach for the 2016-2017 season. Coach Dillion comes to Bluefield State College after spending one year as the Assistant Softball Coach and Assistant Sports Information Director at Bluefield College in Bluefield, VA.
Megan received her undergraduate in Sports Management from UVA-Wise in 2014. While there, Megan was a 4-year Varsity Letter winner in Softball, making the All-Academic Conference Team twice and was selected Second Team All-Conference in 2013. But the highlight of her playing career came when her team won the Mountain East Conference Tournament in 2014, the inaugural season for the Mountain East Conference.
Dillion also has experience coaching volleyball. Upon graduation from UVA-Wise she became the Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach at Danville Community College and lead the team during the inaugural season of that program.
Big Blues Athletic Director John Lewis said, “Bluefield State College athletics would like to welcome Megan Dillion as our Interim Head Volleyball and Softball coach. Megan is a young, well rounded and upcoming coach and we are glad to have her as part the big blues family.”
Megan Dillion is a native of Danville, VA, where her parents Allen and Jamie Dillion still live today. Megan said, “I am very grateful for this opportunity and am extremely excited to get started. I cannot wait to meet both teams and start developing their skills both in the classroom and on the court/field. I can’t wait to be a part of the cross town rivalry against Bluefield College!”
